LITTLE INDIA FOUNDATION
In February, just before the Covid 19 pandemic closed borders and factories worldwide, I travelled to Delhi in India to work on our new collection of beaded and hand embellished garments.
For the safety of the workers, production was shut down shortly after and just like Australia, India went into lockdown. The containment measures have destroyed the livelihoods of millions that rely on daily wages for sustenance, particularly those already vulnerable, the impoverished living in poor living condition settlements around Delhi.
I am very proud that the production manager and owner of the company in which all of our embellished pieces have been crafted with love since South of the Border was established, has gone daily with a small charity called Little India Foundation to the settlements to hand distribute thousands of daily meals, ration kits, sanitizer and masks.
Together we bring you a small collection of pieces with $20 from the sale of each piece going to the Little India Foundation.
I hope that they might bring a little sparkle into your lives in these trying times, while helping others in a country dear to my heart, Vanessa xx
